Sharon Lea Gunderman, 80, of Justice, IL passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024. Sharon was born on August 20, 1943, in Wakefield, MI, the daughter of Andrew and Ruth (Gilles) Forte.
In high school, Sharon’s teacher recognized outstanding qualities, and put a referral in for Sharon to work in the office at the Chevrolet dealership in Wakefield, MI. At the age of 18, she moved to Waukegan, IL with two girlfriends. Sharon found work at the largest tire dealership in Waukegan, IL. Continuing her secretarial skills, Sharon worked at the International Harvester manufacturing plant for tractors located in Hinsdale, IL.
She married John Wesley Gunderman on October 17, 1964. Sharon took great pride in raising her family. Sharon had the ability to reach out and share her kindness. She was always willing to help and showed everyone her unconditional love and support.
Sharon is survived by her husband John Gunderman; children John Wesley Gunderman Jr. and Lori Ann Gunderman of Marenisco, MI; granddaughter Jennifer Marie Gunderman of Chicago, IL; and great grandchildren Alexis Carillo, Alyssa Carillo, and Domanick Carillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Lois Martlock, Duane Forte, Bonnie Forte, Joanne Forte, and Shelby Forte.
Growing up in the upper peninsula of Michigan gave Sharon a memorable childhood with plenty of snow, sledding, and ice skating in a place she called God’s country. Her father, Andrew, made the legendary ice, and people traveled from the next state to skate on ice. Sharon enjoyed talking and laughing. The conversation and laughter filled the room when surrounded by family and friends.
Inurnment will take place in Marenisco, Michigan.
