Rose Marie Nellessen

Rose Marie Nellessen, 73, of Woodstock, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital.

Rose was born April 21, 1951 to Robert J. and Marilyn (Hopp) Nell in Woodstock, IL.  She was a lifelong cook that worked at many places.

She enjoyed many hobbies which included sewing, foraging, reading, crocheting, embroidering, antique shopping and refinishing antique furniture, canning, which included a specific day called Jelly Day where she made jelly all day, long walks, and being a kid at heart, loved to play on the swings.

Rose is survived by her children Lynn (Lance) Gray of Woodstock, Heather (Dave) Suhrbur of Delavan, WI, Sam Nellessen of Wonder Lake, Zeke (Patti) Nellessen of Woodstock, and Mariah (Mickey) Olhava of Woodstock, grandchildren Casey, Connor, Alexander, Breanne, Augustus, Ady, and Max, and sisters Doris Barry of Harvard and Ruth (Tom) Wright of Stafford, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Marilyn Nell, and brothers David Nell and George Nell.

In Rose’s honor, the family requests you wear something sparkly or purple.

The visitation will be from 10 AM - 12 PM Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Saunders Funeral Home & Crematory, 1745 S. Eastwood Dr., Woodstock, IL 60098.  The funeral service will follow at 12 PM at Saunders Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
