Maureen Fitzgerald Obituary

Maureen Gail Fitzgerald, age 86, of Woodstock IL, passed away peacefully at her home on
October 1, 2024.

She was born October 28, 1937, in Chicago to Edward and Agnes (Connolly) Costello.
Maureen married the love of her life Patrick Fitzgerald, in Chicago, on July 20, 1957. They
moved to Woodstock IL in 1972 where Maureen spent over half a century and lived the rest of
her life. Maureen and Pat shared 65 years full of laughs, love, and family. Together they built a
beautiful life, family and legacy.

Maureen is survived by her sister Mary Ann Freel, five children: Cindy and Bob Moore of Glen
Ellyn IL, Steve and Kate Fitzgerald of Pittsburgh PA, Mike and Renee Fitzgerald of Seattle WA,
Maureen Buss of Lake Mills WI, and Dianne and Marquis Sauvage of Chicago IL. They were
blessed with 13 grandchildren, many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Maureen is now reunited with those preceded in death including her beloved husband Patrick,
her parents Edward and Agnes Costello, and her sister Dolores (Costello) Baudin.

Maureen had a contagious laugh and was always the most joyous when surrounded by her
family. She loved to play canasta, watch Carol Burnett reruns, garden, visit Ireland, Culver’s and
any activity on or near the water. Maureen was jumping off diving boards well into her 60s,
riding on motorcycles with friends, and always had an infectious zest for life. She was funny and
quick-witted, an amazing dancer and a fabulous cook. She was an incredible wife and cherished
mother and grandmother. Maureen was the personification of one of her favorite songs, “You
Are My Sunshine”. All those lucky enough to have had her in their lives know that Maureen will
continue to “make us happy when the skies are gray”.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 -10:30A.M on Thursday, October 10th at Saunders Funeral
