Lawrence O’Toole Beiser, age 81, of Woodstock, IL, and formerly of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 28, 1945, in Alton, IL, Larry was the beloved son of the late Frank D. and Margaret E. (O’Toole) Beiser. He grew up in Tucson and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Larry met the love of his life, Cynthia Leigh DePaul in 1988 and they married on October 5, 1995. Larry was dedicated to his family along with many years of his career to aviation, as a pilot and later as an air traffic controller, before retiring in 2016.
Larry will be remembered for his kindness, patience, and genuine interest in others. A thoughtful listener and engaging conversationalist, he loved sharing his knowledge and stories with family and friends. Gifted with an artistic eye and a talent for craftsmanship, Larry enjoyed building and creating all kinds of things, including musical instruments. He also had a deep appreciation for silverwork and turquoise jewelry.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Cynthia Beiser; children, Michael, Adrianna, Reeva, Emmet, and Stephanie Beiser; 8 grandchildren; and siblings, H. Darr Beiser and Jane Dolan.
A private celebration of Larry’s life will be held in the near future.
