Gary W. Meyer, 66, of Woodstock, IL passed away in the early morning of Saturday, March 30th in front of one of his favorite places to spend time with friends and play pool in Woodstock, Liquid Blues Bar.
He was born on January 9, 1958 in Elgin, IL to Delmar and Ruth (Nowiki) Meyer.
Gary was a man who appreciated the life he lived and made sure those around him felt the same way. One of his most popular sayings was “The purpose of life is to have fun!” He treated his family like they were the center of his world and treated his friends like they were family. His likeability was evident in the fact that his friend circle was wide and varied.
Through this friend circle he met the love of his life, Caroline. They were married on August 8, 2011 on the Tall Ship Windy on Lake Michigan in Chicago.
Gary was proud of the fact that he got to drive the “big rigs” for the US Postal Service and he appreciated all things transportation. The only thing that rivaled his love for transportation was his appreciation and patriotism for his country. This patriotism led him to join the Navy, where he faithfully served his country.
Gary is lovingly remembered by his wife Caroline, and sisters Kathyann Meyer and Deborah Mary Farber.
He is preceded in death by his parents Delmar and Ruth, sister Paulette Lynn and brother Delmar Meyer Jr.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, April 4 from 4 to 8 PM at Saunders Funeral Home, 1745 S. Eastwood Drive, Woodstock. Interment will take place on Tuesday, April 9 at 2 PM at McHenry County Memorial Park, 11301 Rt. 14, Woodstock.
