Carol Ann DeFabio Michael, née Leyden, of Huntley, IL, passed away March 25, 2026, in McHenry, IL at the age of 86.
Devoted wife of the late George (Bob) Michael. Loving mother of Laura Ann (Gregory) Norberte and John Anthony DeFabio. Daughter of the late Gertrude (Laibach) and the late Robert F. Leyden. Cherished grandmother of Joshua, Jacob, and Jessica Norberte. Loving companion and best friend of Matt J. Gosche. Faithful “mom” to Wolfgang Pup “Wolfie”. Granddaughter to the late Mary Louise (Doherty) and the late Charles Laibach. Niece of the late Rev. J. Justin Laibach, and the late Lorraine (Leyden) Doyle. Cousin of Maureen (Oriol) Valls of Minneapolis, MN.
Carol was born on May 22, 1939, in Chicago, IL. She was a proud graduate of Alvernia High School, Class of 1957. Carol was a Graphics Division Manager at Motivation Media, Inc., Glenview, IL, and the Owner of C & J Graphics Printing, Inc. Park Ridge, IL for over 30 years.
Carol was very proud of both her children. Carol adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She was always there when needed. She enjoyed traveling, and especially loved spending time with family and friends in Wisconsin and Florida. Carol made an impression on everyone she met; she was a beloved soul who touched many lives. She loved deeply and gave it unconditionally. Her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers she has had throughout the past few years. Their kindness and hard work will not be forgotten.
Visitation will be from 3 - 7 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Saunders Funeral Home & Crematory, 1745 S. Eastwood Dr., Woodstock, IL 60098. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee-Huntley Rd., Huntley, IL 60142. Interment, All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL, following mass.
