Arun Goyal, 65, of Woodstock passed on Sunday, November 28, 2021 peacefully at home.
He was born on September 13, 1956 in Agra, U P India, to Ramesh Chandra and Kiran Goyal. He received his Bachelor of Science, in plant biology, from Uttrakhand. And later went on to receive his Ph.D. While working on his Ph.D. he lived in Wollongong, Australia, his with wife, Archna, where their first child, Amit, was born in 1986. They moved to America in 1987 and had their second child, Anjali, in 1990.
Arun worked as a professor in plant biology, at various universities during his lifetime and eventually worked as a dean in STEM. He was a natural born leader and mentored many students during his time in academia. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with family, photography, and planting his vegetable and flower gardens. He enjoyed talking to anyone and everyone that he met and was known to be the life of the party, always the loudest and most memorable one in the room.
Arun is survived by his wife of 37 years, Archna Goyal; son, Amit Goyal; daughter Anjali Goyal Best and her husband, Benjamin; 1 granddaughter, Naomi Best; five siblings, his brothers Rajeev and Sanjeev Goyal, as well as his three sisters, Manju Argarwala, Savita Kumar, and Anita Varshney.
