Aaron MacDonald Obituary

Aaron Charles MacDonald, 44, Crystal Lake, Illinois died unexpectedly in his home on September 9, 2021.  He was born on April 20, 1977, in Aurora Illinois, son of Dianne and Charles MacDonald.

Aaron was loved by so many people but especially his best friend and brother Andy MacDonald.  They spent countless hours together in front of a bon fire, playing with the dogs, listening to music and hanging with his nephew Jackson.  He was also kid’s favorite uncle and Megan will miss enjoying kid’s favorite cookies and movies together.  Caleb Sarff, Uncle Aaron will still be keeping an eye on you!  He enjoyed gaming and hooking up online with his brother Scott, and nephews Nathan and Taran.  He was loved deeply by his parents, who cannot imagine life without him.   Aaron spent a lot of time with his parents and loved their visit to Alaska when he was stationed there.  No one could cook like Mama and he could put down a ton of her mashed potatoes!  He had a special place in his heart for his kitty Nira, who loved no one else but her dad.

Aaron served as a gunner in the US Army from 1998-2001 when he was honorably discharged.  From there, he worked in several positions in the Northern Illinois area, usually in supervisor roles in production.  Aaron worked hard but also liked to play hard!  He mostly enjoyed time with family and friends, and time outdoors.  Many weekends you could find him camping in Michigan at the Warren Dunes.

Aaron was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Charles H. & Mary Lou MacDonald and William & Emogene Hatten.  He is survived by his parents, Charles and Dianne MacDonald and siblings, Scott MacDonald, Melissa Leguillon and Andrew (Lindsey) MacDonald.  He is also going to be missed by Nathan & Taran MacDonald, Megan (Caleb) Sarff and Jackson MacDonald, his beloved niece and nephews.

Nira will be cared for by Assisi Animal Foundation and we ask that in his honor, rather than sending flowers, that you donate to this wonderful organization.  You may donate online (assisi.org/donate) or by check (payable to Assisi Animal Foundation PO Box 143, Crystal Lake, IL 60039-0143).  Family will remember him privately on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, and will have a memorial service at a future date.
